The Minority in Parliament has raised concerns over what it describes as significant changes made to the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill before its reintroduction for presidential assent.
Addressing a press conference in Parliament on Monday, June 1, 2026, the Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, questioned why the current version of the bill differs from the one passed by Parliament in 2024.
According to him, the revised legislation contains several amendments, including deletions, insertions, and redrafted provisions, which he believes have altered key aspects of the original bill.
The Minority insists that Parliament should explain the reasons behind the changes and clarify whether the revised bill still reflects the intent of the version previously approved by lawmakers.
The Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill was passed by Parliament on May 29, 2026, and now awaits presidential assent.
