A passenger bus traveling from Kumasi to Pusiga was involved in a traffic collision at Zebilla at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The vehicle, registered GW-7089-22, reportedly encountered a steering wheel lockup, which caused the incident.
According to eyewitness testimony and police confirmation, no injuries were reported. All passengers on the bus were securely relocated to another vehicle and resumed their journey without incident.
The bus driver, 31-year-old Ibrahim Amadu, was transported for a precautionary medical check to verify he had no hidden injuries. Mr. Amadu told police that the accident was caused by a technical malfunction.
The Zebilla District Police Commander, ASP Jackson Kpirtufe, said that the bus has been detained for additional investigation and testing to discover the exact reason of the failure.
Authorities are advising transportation operators to prioritize routine vehicle maintenance to avoid similar incidents, particularly during long-distance travel.
