Tori Spelling has left her and Jennie Garth‘s Beverly Hills, 90210 rewatch podcast, 90210MG.
Garth and co-host Amy Sugarman addressed Spelling’s exit on Friday’s episode of the show.
“As everyone knows, Tori has not been here for a bit, right? She’s not been doing the show for a bit for many reasons,” Sugarman said, calling Spelling’s move “100 percent her decision.” “About two weeks ago, she made the decision — which I’m sure was a really, very tough decision for her — but she let us know about two weeks ago that she had decided she wasn’t going to continue with the podcast.”
Sugarman added, “Two things can be true: We can be really bummed, disappointed that she’s not going to do seasons 9 and 10 with us, with you, while still wanting her to be happy and to be excited for her about the things she is working on and does want to do.”
Garth said she was “sad” that her longtime friend and former co-star on the hit Fox series that ran from 1990-2000 wouldn’t be “finishing this out with us.”
Spelling’s departure comes as the podcast still has two more seasons of 90210 to recap.
“We started it together, and I’m sad about that, if I’m being honest, which I always am,” Garth said of Spelling’s exit. “But I’m also really excited for the podcast to come into [seasons] nine and 10 because I know we have a lot of great stuff in store. … Also, I’m really happy for her. I’m excited for her to choose herself,” she added, alluding to an iconic quote and moment for Garth’s 90210 character that she has since embraced in her own life.
As for her own future on the podcast, Garth said she “can’t stop.”
“This has been the craziest awakening of remembering so many things in my life by watching the show back and getting back in touch with me — the person playing Kelly Taylor,” she added. “It’s been this really great experience for me.”
Prior to launching the rewatch show in 2020, Garth told People that she hadn’t previously watched an episode of the show all the way through.
Spelling previously revealed on an Instagram Live with fellow 90210 alum Brian Austin Green that she wasn’t going to return to the podcast, saying that she wanted to pursue other projects, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Garth and Sugarman also teased that there would be “special guests,” including “guest co-hosts,” coming up as they move into the final two seasons of the series.
Garth, Spelling, Green and Ian Ziering are the only 90210 stars who appeared on every season of the series, with Jason Priestley returning as a guest star in season 10 after exiting in season nine.
