A 26-year-old private legal practitioner, Sara Araba Tettey, has tragically passed away after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest while celebrating Ghana’s victory over Panama on Wednesday.
Ms. Tettey, an alumna of the Faculty of Law at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), was called to the Ghana Bar in October last year and was working with O & A Legal Consult at the time of her death.
According to information gathered by Daily View Gh, the young lawyer was watching the match with friends at Standard Hostel at Bomso, near the KNUST campus, when the unfortunate incident occurred.
Speaking to Daily View Gh's Dan Kwasi Prince, some individuals who were present during the celebration said Ms. Tettey suddenly collapsed amid the excitement and jubilation that followed Ghana’s victory.
Eyewitnesses said she was immediately rushed to the KNUST Hospital, popularly known as Tech Hospital, where medical personnel reportedly administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for approximately 45 minutes in an attempt to save her life. Despite the efforts of the medical team, she was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
The tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the legal fraternity, particularly among members of the KNUST law community and colleagues from the Ghana School of Law, many of whom knew her personally.
Affectionately known as Araba Tettey, she was widely admired by friends, classmates, and colleagues for her dedication, professionalism, and bright future in the legal profession. Her sudden passing has left many mourning what they describe as the loss of a promising legal mind whose career was only beginning to flourish.
Her body has since been deposited at the KNUST Medical School Mortuary, pending further arrangements and investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death.
