The National Labour Commission (NLC) has directed the Komfo Anokye Doctors Association (KADA) to call off its ongoing strike action with immediate effect.
The directive follows an emergency intervention by the Commission amid growing concerns over the impact of the industrial action on healthcare delivery at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.
The doctors had embarked on the strike in protest against the suspension of the hospital's Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo, by the Minister for Health.
According to the NLC, the strike action contravenes established labour dispute resolution procedures and must therefore be suspended while discussions continue to address the concerns raised by the doctors.
The Commission has urged all parties to engage in dialogue and work towards an amicable resolution in the interest of patients and the public.
Healthcare stakeholders are hopeful that the directive will help restore normal medical services at one of Ghana's largest referral hospitals, which has experienced significant disruptions in recent days.
