Renowned Ghanaian undertaker Nana Yaw, popularly known as More Cash, has opened up about the often terrifying experiences faced by those in his profession, lending credence to long-circulating rumors that dressing corpses for burial can be a harrowing ordeal.
In a candid interview on Ewiase Mu Nsem TV, More Cash addressed stories claiming that dead bodies sometimes “wake up,” beat, or slap the undertakers assigned to prepare them. While he acknowledged hearing numerous such accounts, he clarified that he has never personally witnessed a full awakening. “Most of them are challenges,” he noted.
However, the undertaker shocked listeners by revealing that he has had several unsettling encounters where deceased bodies, though lifeless, still managed to inflict pain on him.
He recounted two particularly memorable incidents. The first occurred while dressing an elderly woman in Sampa. As he attempted to lift her head to adjust her clothing, the corpse unexpectedly bit him, leaving a visible mark on his left hand.
In the second case, while preparing another female body, More Cash said the deceased used her finger to scratch or mark his right hand.
Reflecting on these events, he admitted the experiences had become overwhelming. “Some of these things are becoming too much,” he said, explaining that he had to pause and reconsider at the time.
More Cash’s revelations have sparked fresh conversations about the mysterious and psychologically demanding nature of the undertaker’s work.
