At least 15 people have been confirmed dead, while 25 others sustained injuries, following a devastating road traffic collision at Peki-Tsame in the Volta Region on Tuesday morning.
The tragic accident occurred in the early hours of June 2, 2026, near Peki Senior High School, involving a Mercedes-Benz container truck and a Mercedes-Benz passenger bus.
According to preliminary reports, the container truck was travelling from Nkwanta towards Accra, while the passenger bus was en route from Battor to Kabiti when the two vehicles collided.
Emergency responders and local residents rushed to the scene to assist victims trapped in the wreckage. The injured were transported to nearby health facilities for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were conveyed to the Peki Government Hospital mortuary for preservation and identification.
