If you’re planning to honor the late spiritual leader of the Christo Asafo Mission, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, mark your calendars—the final funeral rites have been moved to a new date.
Originally set for July 20, 2026, the ceremony will now take place on Thursday, July 30, 2026. The change was announced by the family during a press conference, explaining that the decision came after broad consultations among the children, family elders, and the Aduana Kotoko Royal Family.
Here’s what you need to know about the updated schedule:
Burial Service: Gomoa Mpota (Central Region)
Funeral Service: Friday, July 31, 2026, at Independence Square, Accra
Thanksgiving Service: Kumasi, Ashanti Region (date to be confirmed)
Speaking at the briefing, the late Apostle’s daughter, Sarah Adwoa Safo, shared that the new date was chosen to allow full participation from family members and associates around the world. She noted that the wider Aduana Kotoko Royal Family—including members living in Chad and Cameroon—needed adequate time to travel and pay their final respects.
“As a statesman, it is only right to allow all members of the Aduana Kotoko Royal Family across the globe, especially those from Chad and Cameroon, to be fully represented. That is why we have chosen July 30, 2026, to pay our last respects to the ‘African Star,’” she said.
Mrs. Safo also revealed that the revised arrangements followed consultations with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
In line with the late Apostle’s personal wishes, the family emphasized that he should not be given a state burial—a directive they intend to honor fully.
The family is urging the public, followers of Christo Asafo Mission, and all well-wishers to take note of the new dates as preparations continue for a befitting farewell to the revered spiritual leader.
