Ghanaians are expected to pay more for petrol and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) following new fuel price adjustments that took effect on Monday, June 1, 2026.
According to the latest pricing outlook released by the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) and the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), petrol prices have increased by up to 6.2%, while LPG has recorded a 2.24% rise. Diesel, however, has seen a slight reduction of about 2%.
Under the new pricing window, petrol will sell at a minimum price of GHยข15.20 per litre, LPG at GHยข13.48 per kilogram, while diesel will be sold at GHยข15.49 per litre.
Industry analysts attribute the increases to rising international petroleum prices, exchange rate pressures, and adjustments to government fuel support measures. The removal of some fuel relief interventions on petrol and the reduction of diesel subsidies also contributed to the latest changes.
The development is expected to impact transportation and household expenses across the country. Transport operators have already announced a 20% increase in public transport fares effective June 2, citing higher fuel costs and increasing spare parts prices.
Consumers and businesses are likely to feel additional pressure as fuel costs continue to influence the prices of goods and services nationwide.
