Johannesburg, May 31 — South Africa’s Sports Minister has criticised what he described as an “embarrassing” visa crisis that has delayed the national football team’s planned departure for their pre-World Cup training camp in Mexico.
The team, Bafana Bafana, were scheduled to travel on Sunday morning to their training base in Pachuca, Mexico, but were forced to postpone the trip after several players and officials had not yet been issued visas.
Sports Minister Gayton McKenzie condemned the situation, calling it a “travel and visa debacle” and demanding accountability from the South African Football Association (SAFA).
