Manny Jacinto and Randall Park to Be Honored at CAPE’s 35th Anniversary Gala

CAPE — the Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment — is preparing to mount the organization’s first gala in a decade and with a special reason.

CAPE will celebrate a milestone 35th anniversary with a fundraiser presented by Lexus that is set to take place in Downtown Los Angeles on Oct. 3. The honoree program will be headlined by Randall Park and Manny Jacinto. Deli Boys breakout Asif Ali has been tapped to host the gala while indie band Chanpan will take the stage to perform. Additional honorees and host committee members will be revealed later.

Since its launch in 1991, CAPE has been dedicated to creating opportunities and driving change for Asian and Pacific Islander talent in Hollywood. The shine for Park marks a bit of a homecoming. The veteran performer, whose credits include Fresh Off the Boat, franchises like Aquaman and Ant-Man and the Wasp, Veep, WandaVision, and the recent Audacity, was previously honored by CAPE with a new writers award in 2011. He also counts as an alumnus of CAPE’s programs along with other Hollywood talent like filmmakers Alice Wu, Beth de Araújo and Liz Sargent.

“For this 35th anniversary, it’s our time to share our CAPE history, and many of those we are featuring and honoring — Randall Park, Manny Jacinto, Asif Ali and Grace Dumdaw, the lead singer of Chanpan — all have their part in our history outside their own incredible feats in their careers,” said CAPE CEO and executive director Michelle K. Sugihara, who started her tenure when the org toasted its 25th anniversary. “I’m excited to celebrate both CAPE’s 35 years and over a decade of uplifting our community.”

More information about the event including ticket intel can be found here. CAPE’s anniversary gala typically takes place every five years but that schedule got upended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Beyond Lexus, additional support comes from Sony Pictures Entertainment and Suntory Global Spirits.
