Doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital have suspended their industrial action with effect from 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, following the intervention of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The decision was announced by the Komfo Anokye Doctors' Association (KADA) after discussions involving the hospital's board, management and other stakeholders, who pledged to address the concerns that led to the strike.
Although the doctors insist that the issues behind the industrial action must be fully resolved, they said the need to protect patient welfare and public health influenced their decision to resume work while negotiations continue.
The strike had disrupted healthcare delivery at KATH and followed the suspension of the hospital's Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo. KADA also expressed appreciation to the Asantehene, the Ghana Medical Association and several health sector unions for their support during the dispute.
