Residents and commuters at the Obum Nurses Quarters Junction in Accra were left stranded after heavy flooding submerged sections of the road, disrupting movement and causing severe traffic congestion.
Students, traders, and workers returning home were forced to wade through floodwaters, while some passengers relied on tricycles, commonly known as "Pragyas," and tipper trucks to navigate the inundated area. Others paid local residents familiar with the terrain to assist them across the flooded stretch.
The flooding led to long queues of vehicles and significant delays for motorists and pedestrians alike. At the time the Pent TV’s Emmanuela Addo arrived at the scene around 4 p.m., no emergency or security personnel were present to manage traffic or assist affected residents.
Approximately an hour later, officials led by the municipal chief executive arrived at the scene to coordinate response efforts and help residents safely navigate the flooded area.
The incident has renewed concerns over drainage infrastructure and flood management in parts of the capital, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.
