South Africa Bans 170 Ghanaians for Visa Overstays Amid Repatriation Exercise

South Africa's 🇿🇦 Border Management Authority (BMA) said that of 331 Ghanaian 🇬🇭 nationals who arrived for voluntary repatriation, 170 had overstayed their visas by more than 30 days. Many had remained in the country for a year or longer.

The individuals were declared undesirable and were banned from re-entering South Africa.

The action formed part of a wider weekend operation in which 663 Ghanaians were repatriated under Ghana’s voluntary repatriation programme amid ongoing immigration-related tensions in South Africa.
